[vtkusers] [vtkuser] - Installation

Dear Vtk-users,
I am a very beginner with vtk and I do have a simple question: 
since I use Ubuntu Jaunty do you think it's better to install VTK from Synaptic 
or from the source I can download from http://www.vtk.
org/VTK/resources/software.html  ???

Also, if it's better to use the Synaptic, 
which are the packages I need to install?
Furthermore: if the best choice is to 
download the source from the page I linked above, how can I install it?
