[vtkusers] setScalarComponentFromFloat performance and/or alternatives?

Hi!

Functionally, I have the thing I've been trying to do working and have even managed to build the setScalarComponentFromFloat calls into the vtkFiltering library so as to avoid the sixteen million wrapped function calls.  Unfortunately this only cut out about a third or fourth of the time the thing is taking to load rather than producing the 50,000,000,000 - 1 performance gain I was hoping for.....


Does anybody have any ideas about either speeding these calls up or about some alternate and more efficient way to load the data which a vtkStructuredPoints object uses?
