[vtkusers] Export textured model and convert back to image data

Dear vtkusers,

I have successfully mapped a 2D skin image (bmp format) to my 3D bone model (stl format). I need to pass this textured model to itk for some image registration to analyse skin movement. So my question is:

1 How to export the texture with the model in vtk? I have tried vtkOBJExporter but the texture is missing.
2 How to convert the exported model back to imagedata so that image registration can be done?

Anyone has any idea on this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
