[vtkusers] Form an evenly spaced grid over an object

Hi 
I am new to programming with vtk, and I have been trying to form some sort of evenly spaced points on a solid object. This should look more like the corner points of various cubes (something like many box widgets over this solid object ). Also these points should be confined to the shape of the solid object. Any suggestion or help will be deeply appreciated.
