[vtkusers] Visualise 3D data

Good evening. 
I want to visualise 3D data, apply the marching cubes to extract the isosurface of the data. I started by writing a function named "load" which should allow me to visualise the 3D data.
I want to know:
1.can i apply marching cubes on a simple 3D image or i should use volume representation of VTK?
2.if it's the second response, what should i write in my function "load" to visualise the volume data?
