[vtkusers] Axis issues

What version of VTK are you using? I'm on the 5.2 branch. In there, a bunch
of customization methods for setting text properties for each axis, title
and ticks. Checkout:
http://www.vtk.org/doc/nightly/html/classvtkCubeAxesActor.html

I'm setting my fonts something like:
cubeAxis.SetXLabelFormat("%6.4g");
cubeAxis.SetYLabelFormat("%6.4g");
cubeAxis.SetZLabelFormat("%6.4g");

To offset the origin you could try:
cubeAxis.SetCornerOffset( offset );
