[vtkusers] 3ds, dem, dcom visualization with vtk

Hi all,
 
I know that vtk can do the visualization when given the vtkImageData, vtkPolyData, vtkUnstructuredGridData etc. However, I'm wondering if vtk can do the visualization when given the other data format such as 3ds, dem, dcom? If it can, can you give me some idea in detail?
