[vtkusers] Convert polydata to an Image ?

Hello !
Is there any way to convert polydata that has gone through
a vtkPolyDataMapper2D to an image ?
I want to blend the image data of an existing image
with the 2D-overlay data to produce an output image.
I do NOT want to use OffScreen-Rendering in this case.
