[vtkusers] renderwindow filter

Is there anyway to use a depth map (or the like)  to filter a VTKrenderer to make portions of it transparent?  I want to create a pattern that filters out portions of my renderer before i add it to the renderwindow.   The object is to be able to see portions of 2 renderers in my window
