[vtkusers] vtkTriangleFilter

I have been using vtkTriangleFilter for creating initial triangulation on in
a given polygon. I have been trying to find out, unsuccessfully so far, as
to what algorithm is it based on. Is there any research paper on it? What is
the name of this algorithm. In absence of any documentation about the theory
behind this algorithm I am not sure where to look for. Any one has any idea?
