[vtkusers] Link Error: Cannot open vtkrendering.lib

I am just a starter with VTK and have problem running the first example
in the users' guide. This is a link problem:"cannot open
vtkrendering.lib"
I have careful reviewed and reinstalled the VTK CD trying the two
options of 1. VTK source files copied on hard disk; and 2. VTK source
files on the CD. I couldn't locate the subdirectory folder called "bin"
in the specified built directory, as the users' guide stipulated. I feel
this is the reason why this link problem persists. Can anyone help?
