[vtkusers] close mesh

Hello every body

I have a mesh a cerebral tree and this mesh is empty in the interior and when i need to make a smooth step, she don't work because at the bords i don't have a lot of neighbor vertices. 
For this reason i need to close the mesh!!!!!

As any one know how can i do thaht in vtk ????
