[vtkusers] build things with vtk

hi vtk users!
  i am new at these and my problem is :
  how can i plot things in vtk
  like circles, lines , vectors, functions...
  please i have seen the cone and cube things....
  i need to see how i can build them by myself 
  and not how to load images of objeects that come with vtk
