[vtkusers] time-stamping images

Hi-
   What's the easiest way of encoding meta data (say a time-stamp perhaps) into a 2D image header. Currently I am trying to use the vtkPNGWriter to continuously write images acquired from a device and I would like to include a universal time measure of when the frame was acquired to ms accuracy. I would prefer not to include this info in the file name.
