[vtkusers] reg tet meshing

hi all

i have a quick question, i am trying to mesh an stl file with
tetrahedrons. i am not getting good meshes with delaunay 3D. I know
there is s tet mesher in ITK. but the input format is an image for
that. how can i convert my stl(polydata) to an itk image format.
please let me know.. thank you very much for the help in advance..
also any other methods you would suggest for tet meshing..
