[vtkusers] not work when linking against vtk libraries after installing vtk ! help

HI ,
I  have installed the vtk  as a user in  linux .
It seems fine  and i get vtk shared libraries(lvtkXXX.so) in  the install
directory .
BUT when i  tested a small source  ,it produced  errors when linking .
so many "undefined reference to XXX" !

i wonder whether a user (not root)  can build a completely vtk ,and i cannot
find
the way to solve it  .
can anyone give me some clue to settle my problem?
