Host fellowships for Early Stage Research Training
Within the scope of the European Union "MARIE CURIE ACTIONS, Host
fellowships for Early Stage Research Training (EST)", project "020884-2
Compu Surge" at Ruprecht-Karls-University and at Karlsruhe Technical
University, the following positions for doctoral candidates are
available starting within the first half of 2006:
1. 4 doctoral candidate positions for physicians for a maximum of 4
years
2. 4 doctoral candidate positions for engineers for a maximum of 4 years
The aim of this project is to achieve the interdisciplinary formulation
and clinical introduction of new methods in the field of computer-aided
surgery.
In all sub-projects one doctor and one engineer each co-operate.
Sub-projects 1 and 2 are focussed on applications for oral and
maxillofacial surgery, sub-projects 3 and 4 on neurosurgical applications:
1. The aim of sub-project 1 is to develop a navigated milling
platform for application on bones, which automatically leads the surgeon
onto a pre-planned path for osteotomy.
2. The aim of sub-project 2 is to construct a mechanical holding
device for bone fragments mobilised during displacement osteotomies.
3. The aim of sub-project 3 is the development of a stereoscopic
surgical microscope that projects three-dimensional planning information
into the field of view by means of extended reality methods.
4. In sub-project 4, an optically navigated endoscope will be
developed that will be appropriate for application in oral and
maxillofacial surgery as well as in post-traumatic neurosurgery.
This call is addressed to european, nongerman fellows (or up to 30%
noneuropean fellows), who did not stay in Germany the last three years
and did not work in Germany for the last 6 months.
