I found out on paraview mail list that it would be possible
using the two calculators for each results, extract the
variable, append (append attributes) the calculated
variables together and use a third calculator to get the
difference. It works with paraview, so it should with
'plain' vtk, too.

But there might be an special function which exactly does
this job!?
