[vtkusers] coloring objects

Hi,

I am writing triangular PolyData representing cylinders, to a file using 
vtkPolyDataWriter. The triangles are generated with vtkCylinderSource. These 
cylinders belong to two different sets that I would like to distinguish with 
two different colors. Is there a way I can assign a scalar to each set of 
cylinders, save it to a file with vtkPolyDataWriter and retrieve the color 
with vtkPolyDataReader?
