[vtkusers] Displaying image icons

Hi vtk users,

I would like to display different kind of image icons (gif or jpeg) at 
various points in my scene.
How can I do that?
I know how to display 3d glyphs with the vtkGlyph3D filter. But it seems, 
that this filter can not be used as it works on poly data but not on image 
data. Using the vtkImageToPolyDataFilter didn't produce usable icons (just 
gray).

Anybody an idea how to do this?
