[vtkusers] building vtk in Visual C++

Hi
I am new to vtk and am trying to build vtk in Microsoft visual C++.
I'm getting the error message:
The system cannot execute the specified program.

Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Building Custom Rule C:/ .... /VTK/Vtkbin/Rendering/vtkgl.cxx"

followed by several 

LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'vtkRendering.lib'

for 'vtkRendering.lib' ,  'vtkVolumeRendering.lib' and 'vtkWidgets.lib'

Anyone got any ideas?
