[vtkusers] How do i take a slice out of a 3D image

Hi,

I have a 3D image and i would like to save it into the memory with 
vtkJPEGWriter.
But It seems like vtkJpegWriter only accept 2D input.
So i guess i ll have to save the data slice by slice.
So my quetion is the following:
How do i take a slice out of a 3D image?
