I wouldn't count on that working since the VTK tree was completely 
reorganized and a new CVS tree created between the 3.2 and 4.0 
releases.  However, you can get to the VTK 3.1 here: 
ftp://public.kitware.com/pub/vtk/vtk3.1.2/
