[vtkusers] Learning vtk

Hello!
We are two spanish people, we are doing a proyect at the university
and we need to learn vtk as soon as possible but it is the first time
we have heard about it.
We would be very thankful to you if you tell us how we can start learning.
We have taken some examples but we can't compile them :-(
We are working with very big clouds of points and nets of points
taking from a 3D scanner and we have to do and interface using vtk and
visual C++.
