[vtkusers] vtkVolume

I am using ray casting to render a volume on the screen, but I also need the
projection image for my image processing routines. 

Is there a way to get the 2D projection image that is rendered on the screen?
I looked at vtkWindowToImageFilter, but it won't work in my case because
I have 4 renders added to the same window.
