[vtkusers] (no subject)

hi all,
 
i imported an stl format 3D Drawing  file using vtkstlreader. this file is representing a mesh with elements and nodes (for the finite element analysis). i want to be able to read the points coordinates and elements connectivity. when i input the file into a vtkDataSet object, that object does contain 0 Cells and 0 Points when using the GetNumberOfPoints() method.
how can i can i obtain my data from the file into a vtkUnstructuredGrid object ?
