[vtkusers] My final point....

Dear All,
Many thanks for all the comments on the points I raised. I am confident that
the reaction, along with the evidence of the 2000 list e-mails (probably
20,000 queries and responses) over the last year or two vindicates the
problem to which I elude. For those of you who have replied (ala RTFM and
"wanting other people to solve one's problems") I make this point: learning
VTK is not a "rights of passage" issue. It is about achieving one's graphics
programming goals efficiently. Just because the early pioneers struggled,
doesn't mean that everybody else should. We would all benefit by not having
to repeat the same mistakes as earlier users. We could then put our effort
into more constructive matters (if every engineering student had to figure
out beam bending etc. from first principles, the degree would take 15 years
and we would miss out on a lot of great structures). Also, the really adept
programmers would come on line for development and actual software
contribution more quickly.
No need to reply. If you disagree I am pig-headed enough to persist (unless
you can deconstruct my argument logically). The style of forum that I
suggest will either happen or it won't. I have said my piece. Thanks for
your attention.
Jim
