[vtkusers] unstructuredgrid as surface?

Hi all,
I have a problem.
I have a vtkUnstructuredGrid of points. I have successfully rendered those points as pixels. 
Now I want to render those points as a surface.
I was looking at vtkContourFilter, is that the right way to do it or is there some other way.
Kindly help.
