[vtkusers] Generating strip on a tube

Hi,

I'm a very beginer with VTK and I want to do this:

I've some tubes made with a vtkTubeFilter and I would mark the tube with 
some "stripes corresponding to length or time". As it is descried in the 
documentation of vtkTubeFilter. It could cycle, for example trought 
red-blue-red-blue... Have you got a more precise idea about doing that? 
May be I got to map a texture on this tube.. but i'm not able to do 
that, yet.
