Yes. You need to keep track of the initial this->Pointer (so NextSpan 
should not work directly on it).
But I usually use this class on the stack:

for( ... )
{
   vtkImageIterator<T> inIt(inData, outExt);
   vtkImageIterator<T> outIt(outData, outExt);
   ...
}
