[vtkusers] compile and run

Dear all:
     I have compiled vtk4.2 source codes on linux operating systems. I tried to  do a program with vtk4.2 and c++.  But I do not to konw how to compile and run my programs.  Can anyone tells me the approach, can you give me the details?
