[vtkusers] VTK speed - can it be THAT slow????

 Hello Ingo,

 We checked - 

  - not using debug code (not built with debug on)
  - No hardware aceleration
  - Running on a SUN ULTRA-5.

 We are comparing with other applications run on the same machine and 
panning/zooming an image or contour seems to run much faster.
