[vtkusers] Doing Multi-Scale Views in VTK

Hi,
 
I'm new to VTK< and would like to implement multi-view scaling
(http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~sheelagh/personal/pubs/mag.pdf) in VTK
if possible.
 
Basically, it is the effect of moving a lens along the 2D surface, and
gets the region under the focus of the lens to be magnified. Is there
any good reference/API that I could use to help me with this?
