Try to hava a look at the example provided by vtk: Examples\Medical\Tcl.
Each example reads a volume dataset, extracts isosurface(s) and displays
it(them).
I think they can give you some hints.
For jpeg files, a vtkJPEGReader may be needed to replace the
vtkVolume16Reader in the examples.
