Visualization and Outreach Specialist
Penn State Center for Environmental Kinetics Analysis (CEKA)

The Center for Environmental Kinetics Analysis (http://www.ceka.psu.edu 
<http://www.ceka.psu.edu/>) seeks an individual (MS or PhD) interested 
in using state-of-the-art visualization tools for outreach in scientific 
education. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the 
following:

* Work with CEKA researchers to understand the science to be 
communicated and the nature of underlying data in order to determine 
appropriate visualization techniques for effective communication to 
general audiences.

* Use data visualization applications or programming toolkits to produce 
interactive graphics, animation and related multimedia for 
interpretation of science concepts for target audiences.

* Provide system integration for visualization hardware and software 
(e.g., graphics workstations, GeoWall projection displays, related input 
devices, etc.).

* Understand computational science data structures (2D, 3D, time series, 
volume, molecular dynamics, fluid dynamics, GIS, etc.) as related to 
visualization and multimedia programming.

Skills for communicating effectively in an interdisciplinary team and 
coordinating outreach activities with internal outreach staff and 
external outreach partners are a plus.  CEKA is a joint research and 
education initiative of the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S.
