[vtkusers] Convert Ascii to vtk

Hi all
I am a newbie at VTK. I am working on a project where I have FEM-elements in 
an ascii file and I want to use vtkUnstructuredGridReader. To do this (as I 
have understood it) I have to convert my ascii file to a vtk file. How is 
this done? When I look at the vtkUnstructuredGridReader "manual" it just 
says to look in the text for the files that are supported by vtkDataReader. 
My problem is that I can't find it in the text.

Please help me!!
