[vtkusers] VTK+OSX+WxPython

Hi,

For our project we are creating an application using wxPython 2.4.2.4
and VTK 4.4 (making use of vtk.wxVTKRenderWindowInteractor). It
currently runs on Windows and Linux, but our port to OSX (we use
carbon, I haven't tried an X11 port for OSX) doesn't work. Somehow the
window handles that get passed from wxPython to VTK seem to be 0, so
VTK isn't able to draw anything. I'm willing to put some programming
effort into wxPython and/or VTK in order to get this thing resolved,
but I have no idea where to start and if it is feasible at all. I would
appreciate any suggestions from the list on how to proceed.

So, Scott, to answer your question. Our experiences with wxPython/VTK
on Mac OS X (using the carbon port with
vtk.wxVTKRenderWindowInteractor) are not good. Using only wxPython or
only VTK from within Python on OS X is going fine, but thing go wrong
when you try to embed a VTK renderwindow in a wxPython frame.

Best regards,
Sander Niemeijer
