[vtkusers] vtkMergeFields, class i/o docco

Hi

Does anyone have any examples or knowledge of using vtkMergeFields to
combine 3 scalar values into vectors?

Sample code would be great - anything at all - its pretty urgent.  There's a
bunch of us doing a Sci Viz class at UIUC and many of us are struggling with
the limited documentation of vtkMergeFields.

Also while I'm asking, does anyone know of any documentation of the
input/output compatibility of the various sources, filters, mappers etc.
The biggest advantage of AVS' GUI is the ease with which one can contemplate
how to organise various components to achieve an objective.  The class
hierarchy docs for VTK don't help with that at all.  In case it isn't clear
what I'm talking about, what I'm saying is that its really hard to tell
which objects can be connected together in a pipeline / tree branch.
