[vtkusers] How to read JPEG image data?

I need to read a series of 2D medical images,and then
build a 3D model.I learned some examples,but in
different examples I got to know that information
which is got from 2D image and function which is used
to get the information are both different.So I don't
know what kind of information should be got from 2D
image and I also don't know what kind of function
should be used.
