[vtkusers] HardCopy of vtkCanvas

Hi vtkUsers,

I have been using  vtkCanvas.hardcopy() method/function to save the view in
gif format.
I noticed that the size of gif file is 1.2 mb approx . which should have
been only 40k

Can some one tell give me a solution to reduce the size ?
and also i am not able to see the gif file if i open it in a windows
explorer otherwise it works fine
