[vtkusers] Simulated Fluoroscopy from CT data

I have never worked with VTK before, so wanted to get some feedback before
I wasted a bunch of time. The project I am working on is to simulate a
fluoroscopy image from CT data. I've looked at the raycasting functions
but all the examples I found involved volume rendering. Has anyone used
these to obtain 2-D x-ray images from CT or other 3-D data?
