[vtkusers] Using VTK for virtual reality system

I wish to develop a 3D-virtual reality system to view MRI scans. Can
i use VTK to render volume scan data.

Also i have a position tracking device that gives continous position
stream at about (10,000 baud). I get the stream using a C program. 

Now for the virtual reality system a need to render images
corresponding to position changes reported by the position tracking
device. How fast can VTK render images. Is it a good idea to use VTK
for this. Any suggestions in this regard would be helpful.


Any suggestion on how i should go about developing the system would
be helpful.
