[vtkusers] vtkActor renders on a plane in OpenGL

Hi all,
I've got a problem when trying to render with a vtkActor in OpenGL using (actor->RenderQpaqueGeometry(renderer)) within OpenGL source code (which is called when the rendering is performed).
The vtkActor now renders onto the x-y plane ignoring any z-values (e.g. the threedimensional polydata I'am using is rendered as a plane).
(And no it is not a vtkActor2D or a Mapper2D)
Does anyone can give me a hint where to search to get a 3D output and not a plane?
Thanks in advance,
Matthias
