[vtkusers] Large Volume Data

Hi All,
 
I am a beginner in VTK Programming. My data set consists of 1500 Slices of 1024x1024 raw images.  
I do not intend to visualize such a large volume but a subsampled version of it. I could visualize 
such only 300 slices at a time of original size. Is there a way to view the subsampled volume in VTK?
