[vtkusers] setting cell colors

I have a *.vtk data set of triangular cells.
I want to assign each cell 1 of 3 designated colors and get
that information to the Mapper for display. Does anyone
have any example code (and data sets) that does this?
I don't care what language it's in, I'd just like to
see an example.
