[vtkusers] Controlling color and opacity seperatly?

I would like to control the color and opacity of a volume with independant scalars.  Is there a way to associate two sets of scalars to a structured point set and them access them seperately for color and opacity?  Is this possible and if so how?

I am new to vtk but learning quickly, Thanks!
