[vtkusers] Building Problem

I have a problem to build VTK on my Linux machine. I am
using SuSE Linux 8.0. If I run cmake -i in the VTK directory,
the following error messages appear:

configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot 
create executables.
CMake Error: error can not open file 
/home/aernst/vis/VTK/CMakeSystemConfig.cmake
CMake Error: error can not open file 
/home/aernst/vis/VTK/CMakeSystemConfig.cmake

The file CMakeSystemConfig.cmake does not exist in my
VTK directory. What to do?
