[vtkusers] VTK 4.1.1 libvtkRenderingJava.so problem

What does your CMakeCache.txt entry say for JAVA_AWT_LIBRARY:FILEPATH ?
It should be something like /usr/local/java/jdk/jre/lib/i386/libjawt.so
