[vtkusers] using quadric clustering with dem : settings?

Hello,

I am using vtkQuadricClustering with DEM,
(z component as a function of x,y).
And I wonder what kind of settings could 
output the best visual quality :

Is the best to set X,Y and Z divisions to the
same value, or to set XY to a bigger value
than Z(=2) ?

I am interested in the best visual_quality/speed ratio.

I guess that some of you have already met such issues.
