[vtkusers] help -- unstructuredGrid

Hi, gurus,
   Just a very basic question:  does any body know how to extract the
surface of a dataset with unstructuredGrid type and write it back to
unstructuredGrid type ? is that possible ? seems i can only get
vtkPolydata after using vtkGeometryFilter.....
